Our Anchor

I have this unusual fixation with anchors. I never realized why I love them so much until I was hit with the storm that would rock my very soul.

I was reminded of the verse in Hebrews.

(Amplified Version) This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it] – a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells].

As uncertain as the outcome may be, this is what I do know, the very same Jesus who stood in the boat and calmed the seas, [Matthew 8] is the very same Jesus that stands beside us and calms the storm in our lives today.

He says “Be still” and that is all we can do. We just need to be still and have faith while our God rebukes the waves that are pounding against us.

He is our anchor in the stress of the storm.
